Chinese automaker JAECOO is gearing up for its entry into the local market, unveiling its inaugural SUV, the J7, set to hit the roads in April 2024.
To give the public a sneak peek, the J7 will be on display at Cape Town’s Table Bay Mall from February 26 to March 4, marking its first public appearance. JAECOO is pitching the J7 as the ideal ride for outdoor enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on comfort and specifications.
The J7 comes equipped with a 14.8-inch vertically-positioned touchscreen for media and vehicle functions, boasting safety features and intelligent technologies. Aligning with the trend in Chinese vehicles like the OMODA C5, the J7 offers a comprehensive suite of luxuries and standard features.
More features are as follows:
- Dual-zone climate control
- Adaptive cruise control
- A fully digital cockpit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- A new intelligent camera array shows the vehicle’s surroundings and uses artificial intelligence to remove the vehicle from the picture and show the ground beneath the vehicle.
Under the hood, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivers 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque to all four wheels. Power is channelled through a modern 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with self-shifting capabilities, known for its high efficiency.
JAECOO confirms that South African customers will have a choice between two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, featuring the proprietary All Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS) with seven drive modes: Eco, Mud, Normal, Off-Road, Sand, Snow, and Sport. More details regarding additional features and pricing are expected to be disclosed closer to the official launch date in April.
