Discovery Bank is enabling its clients to trade cryptocurrencies directly through its banking app.
The new feature, launched on Thursday, comes after Discovery Bank signed a partnership agreement with crypto exchange operator Luno, which will support the bank’s cryptocurrency offering.
Bank CEO Hylton Kallner described the move as a sign that cryptocurrencies are shifting from niche assets to mainstream investments.
Customers will be able to trade more than 50 cryptocurrencies and view their balances and transactions in real time, Kallner added.
In addition, Discovery Bank announced a new rewards partnership with MultiChoice Group’s DStv, aimed at enhancing value for its customers. Beginning in the first quarter of 2026, DStv satellite subscribers will be able to earn up to 25% back in Discovery Miles on their subscription payments, providing an added incentive for loyal users. Meanwhile, customers who subscribe to DStv’s streaming packages can receive up to 50% back in Discovery Miles, making it more rewarding to access digital entertainment. The partnership underscores Discovery Bank’s strategy to offer benefits that go beyond traditional banking, integrating lifestyle and entertainment rewards into its platform.
