In a bold move that clearly signals its long-term commitment to the South African market, Suzuki Auto South Africa has officially begun constructing its new headquarters and distribution hub. This exciting project, developed in close collaboration with Fortress Real Estate Investments, takes shape in the rapidly expanding Longlake Logistics Park in Gauteng. The partners marked the launch with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 21.
Tailored Facility for an Expanding Brand
As Suzuki grows, so do its infrastructure needs. To meet these demands, the team is constructing a custom-built complex that spans more than 24,000 square meters. The site includes nearly 3,000m² of premium office space and over 19,000m² of high-capacity warehousing.
Engineers designed the facility with scalability in mind. A 15-meter clear height in the warehouse improves vertical storage efficiency. The layout also incorporates generous yard areas that ensure smooth logistics flow. Employees will benefit from thoughtful amenities such as a full training center, executive boardrooms, a dedicated service workshop, and a spacious cafeteria seating 100 people.
A Vision for the Future
During the ceremony, Suzuki Auto SA’s Vice-President and CFO, Berto van der Lith, reflected on the company’s growth:
“Breaking ground on this new facility is not just about building walls; it’s about building the future of Suzuki in South Africa. This headquarters will give us the capacity and capability to improve our service and prepare for the continued growth we see ahead.”
His remarks emphasized Suzuki’s proactive approach to infrastructure and its determination to deepen its local presence.read more here
Strategic Real Estate Backing
Fortress Real Estate brings its expertise in cutting-edge logistics development to the project. Marguerite Oosthuizen, Leasing Consultant at Fortress, spoke about the value of the collaboration:
“This isn’t just another warehouse project. It’s a carefully considered space that reflects Suzuki’s culture and business momentum. Together, we’re delivering a smart, purpose-built facility that can support long-term performance and people-first design.”
This strategic partnership reflects both companies shared commitment to purposeful, sustainable growth.
Completion on the Horizon
The construction team aims to finish the project by mid-2026. Upon completion, the headquarters will become Suzuki’s central hub for operations in southern Africa. This new base will streamline logistics, boost responsiveness to dealers, and elevate the brand’s service delivery across the region.
Building for Sustainable Success
As Suzuki Auto South Africa continues its rise in national vehicle sales, this infrastructure project stands as a testament to forward-looking investment. It represents not just physical expansion but also a deeper strategic vision one that places Suzuki in a stronger position within one of Africa’s most competitive automotive markets. Moreover, the development is expected to create numerous job opportunities during the construction and operational phases contributing to economic growth.
