Thandi Orleyn will replace Mandla Gantsho as chair of the platinum producer after its AGM in October.
Impala Platinum says former board member Thandi Orleyn will replace Mandla Gantsho when he retires as chairman at its annual general meeting in October. She will take a position on the board with immediate effect after stepping down in 2015 when she had served as a director for 11 years.
Orleyn, an advocate and entrepreneur, is co-founder of empowerment investment group Peotona and serves on the boards of BP Southern Africa, Reunert, Toyota SA and Ceramics Industries. She has also served as a non-executive director of the Reserve Bank. Implats said she brought diverse corporate experience to her new role.
“On behalf of the board, we extend a warm welcome to Thandi and wish her every success in her role as a board member and chairman designate,” Gantsho said. “Thandi brings with her a wealth of experience and her leadership and insight will be a great asset to the Implats team.”
Implats’ shares rose 1.9% to R153.67 yesterday.
