Black Forest Labs, a company based in Germany has announced the launch of its first text-to-image AI models, named FLUX.1.
FLUX .1 launched on the 1st of August and is now available in three versions which are the Pro, Dev, and the Schnell.
The Pro version is designed for commercial use which offers high end capabilities. The Dev version has an open weight sand that is built for non-commercial use, while the faster version of FLUX.1 with open weights, is the Schnell version.
FLUX.1 has shown that it can create human hands and legs, regardless of the challenges of depicting human body parts in AI-generated images because of limitations in training data.
The AI model can be accessed through platforms and tools such as Replicate and Hugging Face that provide AI cloud hosting services and operate on a pay-per-generation system. The AI model allows users the opportunity to use FLUX.1’s features as needed, with the potential for wider availability in the future.
FLUX.1 is now in competition with other leading models such as Stable Diffusion3, OpenAI’s (DALL-E 3), Google Imagen 3.0, and Midjourney 6. FLUX.1 has an enhanced capability in creating more realistic images. It stands out in visual quality, compliance, and flexibility. The model supports various aspect of ratios and resolutions ranging from 0.1 to 2.0 megapixels.
The company is working on a new AI model focused on text-to-video model that will produce high quality output and will be available on open source. They are naming it State-of-the-Art Text to Video for all.
