The brand-new hotels, Hotel Sky Sandton and Hotel Sky Cape Town are coming soon and as part of their staff, they will be hiring three AI-powered assistant robots.
Hotel Sky Sandton will be opening in November and Hotel Sky Cape Town will open in early 2021. There you will be able to see numerous technological innovations implemented. That will include flawless app-based reservations, check-in and room access, as well as diverse smart technologies like the three robot assistants. Yes, apart from offering unsurpassed panoramic views across the city, the hotel will also employ Micah, Lexi and Ariel trained to assist guests in different ways.
Taking to their Instagram account, the hotel made the official introduction of the robots named Micah, Lexi and Ariel. They captioned the post: “From luggage portage and room service deliveries to answering your questions about the hotel and surrounding areas. We had a very “serious” meeting with them today to ensure that they’re loved and adored by all. Whether they listened remains to be seen…”
All of this was ultimately done in order for the hotel to become “a technological marvel”. On their website, the hotel explains: “Hotel Sky has enlisted state-of-the-art hospitality technology to make your stay with us as simple, convenient, comfortable and unforgettable as possible. It all begins with our app, which gives you full control of your stay with us. From booking to checking in and out, the app even acts as your door key, allowing you room access immediately upon arrival.”
According to Cape Town, the robots are run through an app system, and allow guests to avoid human contact, especially important amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Each of our hotels is a dream realised. We want every aspect of your experience within our establishment to be treasured. Whether you’re dining in one of our decadent restaurants, enjoying a sundowner in one of our cocktail bars, chatting to one of our AI-enabled robots, or listening to our automated Grand Piano play a song, Hotel Sky promises an experience like no other.”
